The Company

TenXc Wireless is a wireless equipment and spatial processing technology company delivering next-generation Intelligent RF solutions for wireless mobility networks and the evolution to broadband. Our mission is to enable service providers to profitably capture new service revenue growth for current services and new high-speed data services by cost-effectively improving the efficiencies of their radio networks. Targeted at wireless network operators and base station vendors, TenXc's innovative solutions improve network service capacity and quality by addressing spectral efficiency, link quality, and coverage constraints with reduced access network costs and time-to-deployment.

TenXc's unique adaptive beamforming, MIMO, and other spatial processing technologies are based on over 30 years in the research and development of radio frequency advancements for commercial wireless applications. The company is privately held and has raised US$18M in venture financing from leading investors including BDC Venture Capital, JK&B Capital, VenGrowth Capital, and Venture Coaches/Skypoint Capital.

The Market Opportunity

TenXc Wireless addresses the market for enhanced wireless access systems utilizing advanced spatial processing products and technology (commonly referred to as "smart antennas") to optimize the wireless link between base stations and wireless devices. Industry analyst, In-Stat, reports that the initial market segment on which TenXc is focused, mobile base station (GSM, UMTS, CDMA) site infrastructure, had an installed base of 1.8 million in 2004 and will approximately double by 2009. Equipment spending on emerging alternative broadband access networks including Wi-Fi or WiMAX is also projected to increase substantially from current levels. This continued network build-out to deliver increased capacity, coverage, and quality is driven by the fantastic growth and success of mobile and fixed wireless services.

The Challenge

With the latest available digital air interfaces and network features largely fully utilized, operators still need to rely on conventional solutions such as adding spectrum or additional cell sites to accommodate quarter-over-quarter traffic and service growth. With increasing costs and delays in obtaining additional scarce spectrum and new cell sites, service providers face significant challenges to meet demand with these conventional solutions. New air modulation technologies like W-CDMA, OFDM and others offer performance improvements and lower equipment costs, but deployment still requires finding dedicated spectrum and incremental site investments for initial deployment coverage. There is a need to enhance the core radio performance of wireless access systems by addressing the final frontier, spatial processing. The wireless industry has recognized this need and is currently instituting spatial techniques as a core capability in the latest standards.

The Solution

TenXc Wireless' spectrum efficiency and optimization technologies provide multiple performance improvements while delivering lower network capital and operator costs to significantly improve wireless service economics. As the next evolutionary step in 'smart antennas', our Intelligent RF solutions combine adaptive beamforming with multi-dimensional signal processing to actively reduce interference and optimize the wireless signal link. Interoperable with current and future base stations and air interface standards, TenXc's products provide the needed flexibility to target network hotspots and evolve the network. Operators will realize major performance improvements such as; increased network capacity, improved quality of service, and higher throughput for data services. By improving signal link performance, a carrier can extend the usefulness of their existing spectrum and network infrastructure before looking to purchase new spectrum, adding additional sites, or rolling out a new network infrastructure.

The Team

The TenXc team combines a balanced mix of wireless and networking industry veterans from both major incumbent and successful start-up companies including Nortel Networks, Arraycomm, Newbridge Networks, TruePosition, Lucent, Meriton Networks, and others. Led by CEO Rajiv Pancholy, management provides a solid foundation for the company bringing strong business acumen, operations experience and domain knowledge. Our vision and growing team of world-class engineers is complemented by partnerships with leading research centers, experienced industry advisors, and our industry partners and investors.
